In this Apple Mac Tutorial, we take a look at how to show hidden files on a Mac. In Sierra and later there’s a new super simple shortcut key (SHIFT+CMD+.) that you can use. Or in older versions you can use the Terminal commands below.
Show Hidden Files:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
Hide Hidden Files:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles NO
Don’t forget to relaunch Finder or else the changes won’t take effect.
